How could blonde hair dye, dye already blonde hair darker?
Already have medium to dark blonde hair. Bought light blonde garnier vibrant color hair dye and it turned my hair to brown. Always happens, actually. I’ve tried switching brands to no avail. The only thing that works is highlighting my hair afterwards, and that makes it blonde and lighter again. I don’t have the money to go to a hair dresser and get it dyed and it’s not that it looks horrible, it looks fine, just not the color I want. Why does it do this?
I keep it on way longer than the box says. I usually wait 40 minutes after I finish the bottle of the dye. I mean, its not the end of the world, like I said I just add highlights and it’s blonde again. It just baffles me that when I apply the same stuff to brown hair (which is my natural color) it lightens a bit. But when I apply it to already blonde hair, it darkens it!
Leave it on for less time. Also, if the dye is water compatible (if the box says do it with dry hair, then it is not compatible) mix some with water (not too much). Put it long for 10-15 minutes, and if it isn’t dark enough, do it again until it is the right color. But watch out that hair is darker when wet.
